IT’S A JUMBO OPPORTUNITY

Actually it is closer to a one shot of a jumbo product. Here’s the deal. Our Colorado harvest has yielded some top quality jumbo fingerling potatoes of the Russian Banana and French Fingerling variety. We have about 150/50# cases of Russian and about 120/50# French. BUT…..We also have beautiful high graphic plastic bags to pack 10/5# retail cases as well. These would be a beautiful addition to any retail potato department. While these larger potatoes are usually offered for less, if you are interested, we are willing to be even more competitive and make a one shot deal on the lot that will rattle your shoes and give you an offer you cannot refuse. If you want to get an early start on the holiday season this is a very tasty way to start. Product loads out of Mosca, Colorado while consolidation points and delivery is possible.

WINTER CITRUS MOVING FORWARD

Satsuma’s have begun and we can offer both bald product or fruit with stem-and-leaf. Meyer Lemons will be on the market next week and will join the Yuzu and Kaffir Limes. A wonderful collection of grapefruit hybrids are now being harvested including Pomelo, Oro-Blanco and Mello-Gold to name the most popular varieties. Finger limes are now part of the regular winter citrus line up and we can offer them in both bulk and retail packaging. Calamondin now available for immediate shipping but we will have to wait until late December for the Seville. Sweet things are also on the horizon. Blood Oranges and Cara-Cara are only a few weeks away and then there is the seriously amazing tangerine season and a short visit to citrus heaven.

GREEN SCENE STILL MEAN

Arugula could easily win an award as the first to go when fields are in trouble. It is also the last to recover, making it one of the most sensitive greens commonly grown today. So it makes sense that organic arugula is almost non-existent and conventional arugula is a day by day affair. The baby leaves wilt and the mature leaves breakdown, making the early southern harvest even more appealing. It is very likely that in some cases early southern harvest will be transported north for processing before the full move south is complete. Additionally, unlike years past, the move to Yuma will start as early as the second week of November with shipping beginning by the 17th. In other lettuce notes, kale and spinach are being allocated and baby red oak is scarce due to mold issues in the crop.

NEW PRODUCE QUIZ – – WHAT AM I??

I ooze from pores and hang on doors. I save you from fright on Halloween night. I am so old, with flavor so bold; my story in Sanskrit can be told. Fermented and roasted and blackened I am, just in case you thought me a scam. In ketchup, mustard and sausage I be, powered in pizza to stimulate thee. Roast me slowly and squeeze my head, you’ll not need any butter for bread. Curing consumption and easing all pain, when it comes to amounts there is no refrain. Braid me, sauté me, put me in sauce, without my aroma your food’s at a loss. If you are to marry and scared of the flight, my clove in your buttonhole will ensure a sweet night. In Gilroy, my home where I’m in best supply, just stick out your nose, my aroma won’t lie. So love me and eat me, and decorate in style, however you use me I’ll last for a while.

Answer To Last Week’s Quiz…DURIAN…Congrats To All Winners
