It’s Fourth of July
The sparks will fly
Our skies light up in Glory
But just like fake news
We all have different views
So here is the rest of the story
Our great Declaration
That formed our new nation
Has nothing to do with the day
A war begun that last April
Our soldiers were all able
To support the American way
Declared on June second
On the forth it was reckoned
But ratified late that same summer
The event was not lauded
Not many applauded
Till long past the 1812 bummer
It was then politicians
Brought the date to fruition
So the Congress and Senate they’d score
Our leaders all used it
And some have abused it
But that’s what democracy’s for
But history recorded
And we all supported
The importance to celebrate this day
But you might want to know
That the data will show
It’s when Jefferson and Adams passed away.
So roll out the tanks
And let there be thanks
For the Statesmen who protect our freedom
But make no mistake
It’s their wisdom we take
As we look back and realize we need them
